Having hand drawn sketches turned into blueprints?

Where would you go to have your hand drawn drawings turned into blueprints? Would they include all the piping and wiring? What of the list of materials you want to use? I know City Hall does not hold blue print copies of every individual housing. Where would you start?

You would start by going to an architect. Call around to find a few that specialize in housing. Then ask them if they can turn your ideas into a real design, how much it will cost, and how long it will take. Ask for 3 references from people they have designed homes for. And check with the Better Business Bureau to see if they are in good standing, or have had people complain about their work.

Good luck!

As other's have pointed out, if you actually want to build from your drawings, you need to check with your local city government to find out just exactly what kinds of plans they require so as to approve-upon-inspection such a structure... your bank, too, for financing.

I am an architect and you probably just want to go to a place that does CAD. Where I live which is semi rural there are many computer drafting companies around that can easily do this for you. You most likely don't need a stamped set of drawings for an architect is a bit of overkill. If you're looking to get it built from those drawings you can also go to a building/contractor and ask who they recommend.
Where I live you have to have your blueprints stamped and registered to use for building...go to an architect for this. We found one through the local hardware supply store who was terrific and priced very reasonably. These professionals are not cheap, so be prepared.
A draftsman, if you are confident the drawings will work and be approved, you do not need to go through the expense of an architect.
