If I buy blueprints from eplans.com is there a time limit to when I have to build the house?

I was looking on eplans the other day with my Fiancee and we found blueprints to our dream house we want to buy. The only thing is we don't want to build anytime soon, we want to pay off the land first. Is it okay just to go ahead and buy the blueprints anyways? Or is there a time line to when we have to build.

Most often, plans that you buy online will be available for a long time, because once they draw them, why make them unavailable.

You can also often get a cheaper idea set for around $150 that just includes a floor plan and maybe one or two elevations (not a building set).

It would be best to wait when buying a building set, because the code seems to be changing quite rapidly. I hear rumors (in CA at least) that the 2007 CBC is going to be updated once again. So hold off, if possible. I would recommend contacting the website and asking if they plan on keeping that house plan available for some time or not.
Wait. The plans are (or should be) developed using the current building code standard. If you buy now but don't build for 2, 3, 5, or more years, new codes will be enforced and it will cause problems with getting your permits. In all likelihood the changes to the house will be minimal if any, but updating the codes is a way to keep lots of useless people employed.
