Im about to rent this old house and I have a few questions?

well the old house I fell in love with but I have to know questions on fixing it up the cabinets in the kitchen slant to one corner Does anyone know how I could correct this because its hard to look up on the internet and Id like to do it myself even if that means making new cabinets or trying to figure out how to level the floor and my other question is there is a wood stove in the living room and I was wonering if I could raise it up about a foot and put rocks around the base I would make for it and rocks behind it to make it look better would it catch the house on fire cause that would not be fixing the house up but are those thing posible or should I look for another place to rent I don't mind the work. BTW Im a 21 year old female and I can read blueprints and I know how to draft blueprints and I can lift alot more than most girls my size but this will be my first big project and I would like it to turn out right. Please help me.
P.S. Im realy good with directions

First, you did say rent?? Is the landlord allowing you to make these types of changes? Most do not.

As for the kitchen, if the cabinets have not been installed level (you can find out by placing a level on them) then they would have to be removed from the walls and reinstalled. Not really a job for a person who has never tackled cabinet installation.

The problem could be the foundation of the house. Since the house is old, the corner may be settling/cracking,etc. Check outside the house, see if the foundation looks intact and level.
If the foundation is the problem, this is definitely not a diy job. A professional would be needed.

The wood stove...A stone hearth under the stove and a stone wall could be installed.
You would have to disconnect the flue pipes on top of or on the back of the stove, then move the stove out of the way.
For the stone hearth, you would need to use somewhat level stones, cemented together. After the base is set up, dried, you can start on constructing the wall.
Do your online research for this project. This is a diy job if you do the research and use the right materials. Then the stove can go back into place. The flue pipes may have to be cut to fit now because you have raised the stove.
Ask the landlord first, if these are things he/she will allow you to do before you sign the lease.
Trying to do repairs in a rental is not a good idea. Should something go wrong, you will be paying for a pro to do the work. Your landlord may not want you messing with whatever is there either. The items you have mentioned are not easy fixes.
Don't get into doing this kind of stuff in a rental house without the knowledge, consent, and participation of the landlord. Both of these are potentially very large projects which might actually be impossible without major structural work, and the woodstove could be a safety issue. Hard to say without seeing the stuff. It isn't your house, it's the landlord's house and the landlord probably won't want a totally inexperienced person working on it. Speaking as a former landlord, most tenants don't know how to do much work around a house, why would they? unless they're in a trade. Besides, you could work your *ss off doing it all and then in six months have to leave the house because the landlord decides to sell or gets hit by a bus and dies and the house has to be sold to settle the estate. Save your ambition and time for when you own your own house.
