“Mudroom.” I haven’t heard that term used in a long time. Is it common where you work or live?
thanks for the videos, they are very instructive!
CAD – a Macintosh SE – priceless!
I am producing floor plans for a school but I am cheating by not using AutoCAD or ArchiCAD. It take slonger but the accuracy does not have to be as exact as a professional architect plan.
BTW, I’m not an architect, just an architect wannabe… TeeHee!
I love the pointers and tips you give. It makes clear what I am doing, even though I never understood it until now.
Kudos!
Folks who don’t know: Poche is a term used for the fill-in patterns, like in the dark parts where the outside walls are.
@howtoarchitect Foyer? Ive heard people call it Foyer (Foy-ay), but others call it Foyer (Foy-er). I know Foyer is french so it could be (Foy-ay). In English its pronounced (Foy-er). Which way is it???? I wish to be a architect but this question bothers me.
Hey i am an architecture student from India…..ur videos are very helpful…!.thanks,n keep uploading…
believe it or not, but i design my floorplans, or shall i say the basic outlines, in Paint [yes, the default program, lol]. then move on to AutoCad. i find it much easier than doodling on paper for some reason.
this is better than i thought
couldnt help but notice how you pronounced foyer…….

A separate wing for the “domestic help” and “thin” 2×6 inner walls. This is surely not a typical residential home.
@martymar516
Basic understanding – yes.
As you progress, depending on the type of architect you are and where you are working, you probably have some often-used materials you work with – Concrete, steel, etc… you sort of become more specialized and understand those materials more.
I work in commercial architecture so I almost never use brick – but if the client wants that brick look, it will have to be “Las-Vegas-verneered”… or the labor will cost too much.
@13okk he cant show you his drawing… first of all its CAD this wasn’t drawn by hand… and have you ever used it? anyone that hasn’t used the program would be beyond lost, second theres no way he would do this in one sitting… possible? maybe. realistic? fuck no.
