Buddhadev Choudhury (Soumitra Chatterjee) stays in his ancestral house with his three sons and their families. To avoid any family feud, Choudhury's wife (Supriya Choudhury) divides the house equally among all her sons. But their constant bickering never cease. While their eldest son Shudho is a bachelor, her other two sons Basudev and Sudip are married. Basudev wants to get the ancestral home on his own name and Sudip wants to stay away from his family. To make matter worse, Buddhadev's two daughters also end up in his home after their husbands go haywire. Unable to endure these happenings any longer, Buddhadev and his wife decide to consume poison and end their lives. His wife being God fearing wants proper death rites to be conducted and hence, Choudhury arranges for his death rites to be performed before they die. But their sons get a wind of it and create a huge ruckus. Yet they go on with their plan but with a twist in fate things go awry.
