With the fall of France, Donitz moved many of his Uboat bases to the Atlantic coast, building massive concrete pens to house his submarines. These pens were impervious to Allied bombing and most remain intact to this day.

hi len
the bar is little changed and structually the pens remain the same. you can go on a tour of the Lorient pens, mostly in the summer, but that might have changed.

Outstanding! Thats good to know. I`m guessing you`ve been in? Has it changed much from the 40s? I mean structurally? Sorry to ask all the questions but is there a tour of any of the pens or that? Thanks again for uploading
