Like the idea of this much much better design for the Philipines BUT why are phils house design OBSESSED with sticking all the living area up on stilts? its not really a good idea But I like the way you use wood much better than some of the monstrosities I have seen in the phils

    @chardnj ok thanks..

  10. chardnj says:

  13. quincyb14 says:

@chardnj… i fervently respect your opinion. Been an architect for couple of years now and i could truly say na walang mali sa design.. Siguro talagang mahilig ka lang sa simple, and this house isn’t really simple. The most important thing is the relationship efficiency of spaces within the house.

This one is a perfect example of tropical rustic architecture.

  14. chardnj says:

  15. tatapeping says:

This house is definitely modernized and of course, with airconditioning. The upstairs window treatments are made of glass with ventanillas! It looks like they retained capiz sliding doors in their rooms for natural ventilation.

  16. tatapeping says:

Unfortunately, an architect/designer should TRAVEL and visit other cultures to realize how important and beautiful our culture is. We take our gifts for granted. It is good to be open to all cultures and use it for different projects. But it is always important to pull something out of you creatively, as a Filipino.

  17. tatapeping says:

Hotels and resorts in the Philippines copy Balinese, and recently, Greek-style island resort! People want to experience the Philippines and NOT STAY at a Hawaiian or European-cottage! We wonder why Phil architecture and designs are not regularly featured in Asian or Southeast Asian design and architecture books..because it is not embraced by our own. Our local architecture and design students should be honed to be patriotic to continue the rich culture we have…

  18. tatapeping says:

Well done!Houses like this should be a great example to be emulated by other Filipino architects and designers. The whole world wonders what the real Filipino culture is because we try to copy other cultures IN DETAIL!The ‘Bahay na Bato’, though a colonial structure, embodies what we are because we are really a mixture of many cultures, hence we have embraced them.Through architecture and design,we are able to strengthen our colorful culture and make us stand out from the rest.

  20. Labedee80 says:

A very visually appealing house. This is a modern yet classy Filipino house. I love it.

  21. Bewram says:

I am very inspired. Bahay na Bato indeed. Love it!

  22. nikkuo888 says:

this is a good tropically designed house. a “bahay na bato” inspired. is passive cooling applied in this house or just active cooling with all the air conditioning?

  23. rysandJL says:
