@widowson Completely agree. You’re point is spot on. There are too many people and too much money swishing around to have a gold standard again. And the gold prices can be manipulated by the one’s with the most money. The government should issue money through investments in infrastructure and public works without interest rates attached to the bills. Would work beautifully. . But I sure do like the idea of Ron on the services comity. Hopefully he can shake things up a bit.

I like RP but I’m afraid I agree with some of these comments. It is NOT a good idea for the US to return to a Gold Standard (although it would be gr8 for us here in Oz as a major Gold producer). You would be “crucified on a cross of Gold”. Gold is too easily monopolised. The majority owners of Gold are already the Reserve Banks of the world. America simply needs to take back issuance of its own currency, rather than allowing it to be issued as credit (i.e. debt) by the Fed.
