Cities XL – A flythrough of a couple of my cities from Cities XL on Prosporo Server

Here is some ingame footage of Cities XL, the new city building mmo that just came out a couple of weeks ago. I have a few fairly impressive cities, and produce the most resources of any given type on the entire planet of Prosporo. But the video starts out, in my city named Office Space, which as you can guess, houses many offices, and staplers. It also has a Hi Tech Section as well. And the video finishes up with Megaplex, the Heavy Industrial capital of Prosporo. I make more than twice as much as resources as even the second place guy on the list. I will likely add another video showing Party Coast (my resort and power house) and WaterMart in a later video. But here you go folks, here is some in game footage of Cities XL. Hope you enjoy!

hey i really enjoy watching this video but i think yu should make mor….also i been think bout geting this game would yu recomend it ?

Thanks :) Yeah, the online was the main draw of the game. Every time I get interested in playing the game, I try to play the single player and get like 15 minutes into it and go meh, and play something else. I miss the online play as well ;/

Yeah, it was insane. I got to a point I had to spend literally 6 to 8 hours trading off tokens until my cities were positive again. And due to the lag and all that, it just made the game unplayable ;( But at least they tried, there hasn’t been something like this before, so I give them credit for trying :) Was fun while it lasted.

I do like this game but the trade system is so annoyingly bugged. There should be a simple one click button to cancel all trading with a specific city under that citiy’s trade window. I’ve adjusted all trade exports with Omnicorp to zero and for some reason I’m still trading unknown tokens with Omnicorp.

  7. mattdawg420 says:

But it did, and daily. When the trades would expire it was a nightmare for me and the server. It got to the point where I was literally required to spend about 8 hours of trading things before i could get into a city to start making it bigger. And at that point, you build like a mad man until you pass out. Because the second you wake up, you have 8 hours of balancing to do again :(

Personally, if it was me and I had THAT many trades as you had, I would have wiped my city just to tank the economy on the server to show MonteCristo the flaw in their design. It’s like in WOW, how nobody has been able to run the auction house for any real extended amount of time, it’s designed well in that regard. But to have one player be able to tank the economy in CXL shows a design flaw in the game back then. Fortunately with 2011 out tomorrow, we can now trade in our own cities.

I just wish the online version was back. :( I nbever gotta chance to play that. BTW, nice city. :)

  10. mattdawg420 says:

LOL thats the thing, its NOT the PC, its the MMO :( Once you had that many millions of people in a city plus having thousands of trades going on at the same time, the game was near unplayable at some times. The trade window was like a laggy virus ridden PC surfing the net :( My PC is quite uber.. trust me it was the MMO if you played it back then you would know, it was probably why the game failed.

    your computer is damn slow

  12. mattdawg420 says:

the visual appeal of the game is there for sure, that is hard to deny. But the gameplay that made this game work was the MMO aspect. Your city needed to specialize in one or two things and then export the excess to buy the resorces your city would then need. The game was VERY laggy in the MMO aspect of the game, due to the complex trade systems. I had literally thousands of trades so if a city of mine went negative the whole server economy would tank, lol.

it looks way better than sim city 4, i hate playing sim city now because my computer runs it at 1 frame per second, yet it plays the original halo really well. i wasn’t really good at sim city anywaymy citizens always called me the prince of darkness. is there a non-online version mode on this?

  14. mattdawg420 says:

Its not really an Uber Sim City. It is an MMO version of Sim City. As in, all the cities are REAL people. However… I think the game failed in March.. I stopped playing towards the end of last year I think. I was the most powerful guy in like 7 out of the 12 charts on my server. I hit the end game and there were no plans for more at that time, so I got bored :(

  15. mattdawg420 says:

I don’t know if it is easier than this one. Tropico 3, your citizens can rise up and overthrow you. Here the worst that happens is you go broke. That being said, I LOVE Tropico 1 and 3, they are GREAT games. I play it at least once a week sometimes, when I am feeling like I want to play something like Sim City and maybe something more dangerous like Civ 4, its a good mixup of sorts.

  16. hijcmaddox1 says:

if you are looking for an easy city building game, get tropico 3

  17. hijcmaddox1 says:

is this basicly like an uber sim city?

  18. mattdawg420 says:

From what I heard, and I should like go to the website and confirm but I just can’t do it. But I think the online portion of this game is gone at the end of this month. But the single player isn’t horrible. The online factor made it unique, but laggy and limited.

  19. picison says:

hmm i wonder if i should get this game?

  20. mattdawg420 says:

That is what I am here for ;)

  21. simsfreak555 says:

Oke, thanks for the help. ;)

  22. mattdawg420 says:

If you saw the specs on my PC you wouldn’t say that….

The Dev’s failed ;( Also, the SIZE of my city was beyond what they thought they could account for with the trade system. I had thousands of things in the trade system and so it was mostly server lag ;(

  23. mattdawg420 says:

Back then perhaps. You might check out their website and see if the game is over at the end of the month or not. The online version will not be out from what I heard, so if you want to see the online it maybe over or close to it from what I heard. But it can be played offline a bit too, just the online aspects made it an MMO.

  24. simsfreak555 says:

    Hmm thanks for the reply.
Should I buy this game or isn’t it worth my money? (:

  25. mattdawg420 says:

It was… I think the game died. I like hit the end game of it and they released it too early. They didn’t get enough subs. so the game I think went under or this is the last month or something. And it WAS laggy as hell.. you have no idea, it was not ready. But sometimes they run out of money when making stuff. Mortal Online is ABOUT to release from BETA and it has some problems but the game has much potential! My city was soo big it lagged to play it XD.
