Could this not be done with lava instead? use the pistons as you have, but make it so the pistons lift up to reveal lava. This should make the light brighter than glow stone.
Any idea why this stops after a while? (while I’m still up there). If I replace the lever/button redstone torches (the three at 3:08), it’ll either do one revolution and stay closed, or not go at all.
just wondering, is there anyway i can do this on a smaller scale? my edges are only 4 blocks wide, with two in between. I dont want to ruin the design of my lighthouse by trying this one exactly
Does this work in 1.0.0?
Very good guide thumbs up
Hi, when i do this on SMP the redstone wont connect to the repeater any reason why?
well, i did it! i used your blueprint here to make my own lighthouse. about 50 blocks high and using a boatload of black and white wool to make it a stripped lighthouse (which took me week to sheer!) but i love it! thanks so much for this!

sorry hheres the link i was talking about
thanks for the reply. Believe it or not im still trying to do something like this, BUT not have to turn it on manually when i log in. I was wondering, could i use something like what this guy did here to use as the engine to turn this on? Something like what he does keeps going after logout/login and i was wondering if i could use that to power what you have here somehow… i’m still very noobish with redstone but im trying to learn.
ok thanks. i’m still thinking on my final design, but in the end i may use this.. it really is nice. thanks!
As far as I know, any sort of redstone contraption needs to be restarted if you log out or leave the area where it’s built. This is because, I believe, the game stops processing things after you’re a certain distance away: Furnaces stop cooking, trees and crops stop growing, and lighthouses stop revolving. Fortunately, this design makes restarting easy: Just cycle the power a couple of times, and you should be good to go again.
one question…. i have been trying like crazy to build a lighthouse and non of my final designs work the way i want. i like this setup but i have to ask… will this setup work when i log in after having logged out? alot of these setups i see have to be restarted each time you log in. thanks!
Very nice. Really amazing tutorial, and your voice isn’t whiny or annoying either.
Gonna use this on my survival island map!
this was very helpful thanks…and i noticed you sound very similar to kipkay on here, not saying you’re him, but there’s definitely a similarity in your voices.
dude this is AMAZING. finally theres tutorials that are really indepth and have schematics…this vid needs like a million more views lol
Thanks
Needs more delay
If you use a second lever instead of a button, you can manually set the amount of time each piston stays active. For a very short period, just flick the lever (the one you used to replace the button) on and off very quickly.
your voice is AWESOME
Quite nice, i would just like that they retract quicker
Nice work!
pretty good
Impressive.
Nice
