i have a couple usefull tips. first of all, lava does NOT use a source like water. if you place water, you an just put a brick over were you placed it and it all goes away. with lava, the spread does not need the source. yours has grown to its full size. just place stone the same level as everything else at the top. it won’t ruin it. also, i have a lighthouse (revolving) that works. i built it with no help and it’s huge. It spins and uses glowstone as a source. its for 1.7.3-1.8.1 and……
With how light travels i find beacon towers more useful. Just a tower with burning netherrack on top. Post them around the home, town, outpost, or along the trail you followed. Usually at high points so you can get your bearings. I tend to build up small guard shacks near them with signs reminding me of which direction to what outpost.
